Robert(Robbie) Gibson,
affectionately called
'thunderbird' by his friends, is
a native Crooked Islander.
At an early age he developed the love for boating and fishing. Coming from a llineage of boatbuilders and seafaring men, he competed with his siblings as to who would catch the most fish. He spent a few of his early years residing at Bird Rock Lighthouse with his uncle, Ulric, who was the lighthouse keeper for many years.
Robbie has been referred to by many as one of Crooked Island's ambassadors. His love for people and his warm personality has connected him to people from all walk of life.
His dream during his childhood was to become a professional fisherman and to manage his own business. He now has over fifteen years of sportfishing experience under his belt. He has participated in fishing shows like, 'Spanish Fly', which is aired in ESPN 2 and has been featured in fishing magazines such as: Florida Sportsman and Field n'Stream.
